Take Time To Reflect and Celebrate

It is my birthday and on this day, I take time to reflect on the previous year. I think about the times I felt lost, the moments I was successful in reaching a goal, and the magic moments that happened to bring me where I am today.

With the reflections I can see what went well, what didn’t work out, and what I would like to work towards in the coming year. I set intentions for myself as a means for getting clear on some of my hopes and dreams. This does two things for me: provides me with clarity of a visual for where I need to go and empowers me to take action.

No matter the pitfalls from the previous year or the perceived missteps, I celebrate arriving in this present moment. I celebrate my efforts, the energy I put into the previous year, and the lessons learned.

With celebration comes an uplifting feeling of ease. It helps to release the inner critic that can be so loud sometimes. That inner critic is just doing its job of course. It has a duty to ensure we know what is not going well so that we can course correct. That voice can be agonizing and so ingrained, though (not helpful).

Celebrating helps to quiet down that voice so we can see what is going “right” — what we are doing well — and how we have brought in some really amazing tools into our lives. It can help us see that even the smallest tasks are worth celebrating. The little things we do, whether its running an errand, giving ourselves rest, feeling an emotion, or gathering with friends for a birthday party. All of it is worth celebrating.

This is just a quick reminder to you to celebrate the little (and the BIG) wins.
